The South African Transkei mushroom strain originated in South Africa within the former Transkei province of South Africa (now a part of the Eastern Cape province).
These shrooms have distinct pyramid-shaped caps and gnarled or twisted stems. Unlike many other strains of Psilocybe cubensis, identifying the South African Transkei shroom is fairly straightforward as it doesn’t resemble any other cubensis strains we know of.
The South African Transkei shroom strain is an interesting one, as it’s the first psychedelic mushroom strain ever discovered and documented — at least in modern history — that is native to South Africa. Other species exist on the continent, but the South African Transkei is one of only a few cubensis strains that grow here naturally.
Magic mushrooms grow worldwide, but they prefer moist climates, at least for part of the year. South Africa’s hot, arid deserts are typically unsuitable for psilocybin mushrooms. This is one of the reasons why there are so few Psilocybe cubensis strains originating from this part of the world.
The original sample was collected in the early 2000s, where it was growing in a pile of cow dung in the shade of a tree near the Indian Ocean. The documentation surrounding the original sample is stellar, and the site of the spore collection can more or less be pinpointed on a map.

Dosage Guidelines:

Moderate Dose (1.0 to 2.5 grams): A moderate dose leads to more noticeable effects, including visual distortions, altered thought patterns, and an increased sense of euphoria. This range is ideal for those seeking a deeper, more immersive experience, but it's important to approach it with caution and awareness.
High Dose (2.5 to 5.0 grams): This dosage can induce strong effects, including intense visual and auditory hallucinations, profound changes in perception, and deep emotional insights. It is recommended only for individuals with prior experience, as the intensity can be overwhelming for newcomers.
Very High Dose (5.0 grams and above): Taking a very high dose can lead to profound alterations in consciousness, including dissociative experiences and a sense of unity with the universe. This level should only be undertaken by seasoned users in a safe, controlled environment, ideally with a sober trip sitter present to ensure safety and support during the experience.

If you’re tripping for the first time, it’s best to have a trip sitter nearby. A trip sitter will remain sober and watch over you to help out in the event of an emergency.
Start on a smaller dose "baby steps". Level 1 - 6. Do not exceed the recommended dose. A two day tolerance break is recommended between trips.
Set & Setting: Quite simply, the “set” is your mindset and the “setting” is your surroundings. Making sure that you’re in the right frame of mind, with the right people, and in a good environment, can literally make or break your trip. Taking the set and setting into consideration can drastically increase the probability of having a good experience.

Don’t mix shrooms with any other substances even if you are an experienced tripper. Especially alcohol and highly caffeinated drinks.
Drink a lot of water after the trip to help flush the psilocybin out of your system and to be able to return to your day-to-day self much quicker.
